Al Ahmadiya School & Heritage House
Dubai's first school and adjacent heritage house showcasing traditional life
About
Al Ahmadiya School, established in 1912, was Dubai's first formal school, educating the children of pearl merchants and traders. Today it operates as a museum showcasing the history of education in the UAE. Adjacent is the Heritage House, a beautifully restored traditional home that once belonged to a pearl merchant. Together they offer insight into Dubai's pre-oil era, with traditional architecture, artifacts, and period furnishings. Both are free to visit and located in the atmospheric Al Ras area near the souks.
